Chances are that if you’ve ever done a semester long project, especially a game, you have an “eighty percent” project sitting around. Maybe more than once. I’m not as big a fan of Visual Assist X as some people. It’s a great tool, but there are really only a handful of features that matter to me. Probably the biggest one is that it has a dialog that lists ALL the files in your solution in a flat alphabetically sorted list, with progressive search (like iTunes). That dialog is godly, and so I was thrilled to discover the Sonic File Finder add-in for Visual Studio. It adds that dialog, and works gloriously.

It turns out that for the enclosure size I’m using, a toilet paper tube is exactly the right size to create a port tuned to 62 hz, and my speakers have a frequency response down to 55 hz. In other words, I jammed a toilet paper tube into my box and now I have a beautifully clear, open bass response. Cool, eh?
P.S. This is called a bass reflex system.
