  • The pictures are blurry because the monitor generates a lot of reflected glare and I’m too lazy to figure out how to get clear pictures in those lighting conditions.
  • Yes, I know it’s messy! My desk is covered with electronics right now. It gets cleaned every so often, but screw taking pictures of that.
  • That cardboard box bookshelf speaker actually sounds really good. Response does fall off below 55hz though.
  • The amp is probably capable of delivering 60W/channel into these 8 ohm duos, and they’re 93 db at 1W/1m. It can get very, very loud.

VirtualBox is Better (wait, maybe not)

So after yesterday, I figured I may as well give VirtualBox its fair shake. It’s difficult to find up-to-date information on ANY of the virtualization systems, as most of them have gained a whole slew of features recently. I discovered that VMWare Player can do hardware accelerated graphics, but only for Windows guests. Presumably this is a result of their focus on the Fusion product. I’ve also installed VirtualBox and played with a bit, and initial impressions are pretty good.

VMWare Player is Great

Recently, I’ve started using VMWare Player. The original VMWare Player was a crippled piece of junk that could only play pre-made virtual machine images, and represented one of the very early volleys in the free virtualization war. As a result, most of the readily found information about Player on the net is completely wrong, and I think it’s not a generally appreciated product because of it.
